Sharing a Matter device to Google Home on Android after Apple or SmartThings commissioned it should be straightforward. Rejection on Android — share code fails, device grayed out, or Could not connect — usually means the primary fabric never finished, Google Play services or Home is stale, or the phone is on the wrong network.

Android-specific checks

Update Google Home and Google Play services. Use the same Google account that owns the home with the Nest or Android TV hub. Turn off Private DNS and VPN for the share attempt. Grant Nearby devices and Bluetooth permissions to Home. Confirm the Android phone is on main LAN, not mobile data fallback.

Fabric order matters

Complete primary commissioning in the OEM or Apple app first; control must work there. Generate a fresh multi-admin code from the primary app — codes expire. Share to Google before opening Alexa or HA simultaneously. Remove pending failed shares in Google Home Devices list. Reboot Thread or Wi-Fi border router, then retry once.

Verify

Device appears in Google Home within minutes, toggles reliably, and survives Android phone reboot.
