Meross Matter switches often pair halfway — BLE succeeds, then operational discovery times out while the switch joins Wi-Fi. Meross hardware is usually fine; the hub never sees the switch’s operational mDNS announcement on the LAN.
Meross-specific steps
Update switch firmware in Meross app before Matter commission. Use 2.4 GHz — most Meross gear is not 5 GHz. Disable band steering temporarily. Phone, switch, and hub on same SSID. After timeout, remove failed entry, power-cycle switch at breaker ten seconds, retry once per hour max.
Network and hub
Reserve DHCP for switch and hub. Disable VPN on phone. If using Home Assistant Matter, confirm integration sees mDNS on host NIC. For Apple Home, ensure HomePod or Apple TV is on same subnet. Factory reset switch per Meross Matter guide only after ghost removal.
Verify
Switch appears in primary controller within five minutes and toggles load without Meross app open.
